PAVANE IN THE CAN

May 15, 2008

On the set of Pavane, Casa Mendoza, May 25 2008On Sunday, May 25, Quarrington, aided and abetted by BookShorts Producer Judith Keenan, successfully put Pavane in the can, that is, successfully completed principal photography on the live action footage for a short film based on a section of Quarrington’s novel, “The Ravine.” (There is an animated component being created by Chris Minos at Crush, Inc.) In the film, Phil McQuigge is portrayed by Geraint Wyn-Davies (Forever Knight, 24), whom Judith recommended to Quarrington for the role; they met on the set of Power Play. The part of Jay was played by the wonderfully talented Ted Dysktra–Quarrington first met Ted during the filming of Giant Steps, a coming-of-age jazz film that PQ co-scripted. Also, based on Judith’s suggestion the lovely ladies of Moose TV, Jennifer Podemski and Michelle Latimer were cast for the short. Lensing the film (as they say in Variety) was the estimable Gregor Hagey. Thanks again to the wonderful Bravo!FACT program, to CBC, and to BookShorts in particular for its magnanimous financial support our our endeavour.
